Foreigners who entered Turkey for Tourist purpose with the sticker Visa or e-Visa, Visa-exempt and who wish to stay over 90 days in every 180 day period must obtain Turkey Residence Permit ID Card to continue stay in Turkey, legal and longer.

Residence permit application is lodged online in Turkey only by you (or your representative) and not at Turkish Embassy abroad, or at foreigner’s country of citizenship or legal stay.

SHORT-TERM TYPE RESIDENCE PERMIT IS MOST COMMON

Where can I travel with Turkish residence permit? In Turkey the short term Residence Permit ID Card is issued to those who will stay in Turkey for Touristic purposes and travel in and out on visa exempt basis, whose children will enroll in Turkish elementary, secondary and high school, who search for jobs in Turkey (must have 6 months min remaining residence permit) or setup a Turkish company or do business research.

• Tourism residence permit ID card is issued 1-2 year period each instance, and does not require continuous live or stay in Turkey.
   
• Business residence permit ID card is issued 3 months and does not require continuous live or stay in Turkey.
   
• Medical residence permit ID Card, is issued to foreigner who enters Turkey by Medical visa for medical and hospital treatment.
   
• Real Estate Residence Permit ID Card is issued to foreigners who own Turkish property and allows continued stay with residence permit, renewal for each extension period.
   
• Student residence permit ID card upon higher education and Turkish university completion, may apply within 6 months after graduation for Touristic residence permit ID card to stay extra period as an extension.
   
• During a court decision divorced from Turkish citizen or the death of Turkish sponsor, the foreigner with Family residence permit may transfer to short-term Touristic residence permit.
   
• Foreigners who enter Turkey with Work visa and who have Foreigner work permit ID card, upon fulfilling the work permit till the expire date, earn a right to transfer in 10 days to Touristic residence permit ID card to stay in Turkey longer without work, or search for more work again.

As first condition for 1 year short term Residence permit the passport should be valid 12 months + 60 days, and 24 months + 60 days for the max 2 year duration to stay.

Residence permits ID Cards shall be issued separately for every foreigner depending on the purpose of stay, [in any case] for a period 60 days shorter than the validity period of Passport or travel document.

HOW TO LODGE ONLINE RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATION IN TURKEY?

1. Foreigners visiting, after entered Turkey may contact iResidence Application Center before their Visa expire for stay, to be eligible to apply.

2. Next you will require to attend the short interview Mon – Fri from 08:30 – 16:30 hrs at the Göç İdaresi government immigration office with passport and original supporting documents, and also pay e-ikamet government fee to complete process.
   
   After appointment, you may track Residence permit ID card delivery at PTT post office website.
